Unirobotics to Provide Remote-Controlled Stabilised Weapon Stations for Offshore Patrol Vessels

The Remote-Controlled Stabilised Weapon Stations to be used in Offshore Patrol Vessels that will be constructed by ASFAT for Turkish Naval Forces Command will carry Unirobotics’ signature. The contract to develop said weapon stations, along with producing them and prepare them for integration into vessels was signed between Unirobotics and HAVELSAN on 1 October 2021. HAVELSAN is a subcontractor for said Offshore Patrol Vessel project under main contractor ASFAT, responsible for mission systems.

The cooperation between Unirobotics and HAVELSAN is based on their joint efforts that started approximately 1.5 years ago. The Remote-Controlled Stabilised Weapon Station, to be developed by Unirobotics, was included in the bid HAVELSAN gave for the Offshore Patrol Vessel project.

After the R&D, design, and qualification processes for the Remote- Controlled Stabilised Weapon Station conclude, the product is expected to be ready for service by 2023.

Unirobotics will deliver four systems for two vessels in the first phase, according to the contract. After this first phase is completed, the system could be ordered for further production of other Offshore Patrol Vessels.

Almost 100 Percent Domestic Product Ratio

CANiK M2 heavy machine gun will be used for Unirobotics’ weapon station. The electro-optical systems, motors, software, and even the weapon itself are domestically developed indigenous projects, and as such, a domestic product ratio of around 100 percent for the station is one of the goals for the project.

Unirobotics Adds Naval Platforms to its Platform Integration Efforts

Unirobotics was founded to develop innovative mechatronic systems to further increase the effectiveness of weapon systems to be integrated into various platforms. Unirobotics’ focus is developing smart mechanisms to support the operators of various weapon systems. The company has been focusing its efforts on stabilised systems, weapon sensors and software for this aim, and was involved in projects such as Active-Balanced Weapon Mount Project, development of BOMBUS Gun Pod, a joint development between Unidef and Aeros, and smart weapon (IoT weapon) projects for CANiK brand pistols.

Project to Advance Unirobotics to the Next Level

Ömür Baç, Founding Partner and General Manager of Unirobotics highlighted that the contract they signed was a milestone for the company: “Unirobotics is a young but innovative company expert in its field. We used various systems in land, sea, and air platforms, or their subcomponents in our projects and we made quite a bit of progress in these. In the OPV Project, we cooperated with HAVELSAN since the beginning and imagined an indigenous system with a very high national product ratio that can meet the challenging demands of modern battlefields. We will present a solution that will be appreciated by the end-user in a very ambitious timeline. We know this project will carry Unirobotics to a new level. We thank HAVELSAN and ASFAT for believing in Unirobotics.”
